The Register rapporterar att tjänsten Google Googles är på gång till iPhone senare i år. Just nu finns den endast till Android-mobiler.
Tjänsten går kort ut på att man tar ett foto av ett objekt och sänder det till Google. Där analyseras bilden och tillbaka kommer smarta sökresultat.
Skulle man exempelvis ta ett kort av Eiffeltornet skulle man förmodligen få reda på att det är just det tornet och att det uppfördes mellan 1887 och 1889. Google Googles fungerar sämre på exempelvis djur, träd och möbler.
- ”We’re working on an iPhone version, and hope to have it out by the end of the year,” David Petrou, a Google staff engineer working on the Goggles project, told his keynote audience at Monday’s Hot Chips conference at Stanford University in California.
Currently, Google’s ”Search by Sight” service is available only on Android clients, as it has been since it was introduced last December.
Petrou said that porting Goggles to clients other than Android is no mean feat. ”It’s actually a significant penalty [having] different code bases,” he said.

Apple har släppt Säkerhetsuppdatering 2010-005 som rekommenderas för alla användare. Bland annat tätas luckan i PDF och Apple Type Services vilket tyder på att samma hål som fanns i iPhone och iPad och utnyttjades av Jailbreakme också fanns i OS X.

Pocketnow har jämfört en förhandsversion av webbläsaren i Windows Phone 7 mot iPhone och en mobil med Android 2.2. De olika webbläsarna har sina olika fördelar.
iPhone skrollar mjukt men det gör Windows Phone 7 också till skillnad mot Android som är helt förskräcklig när man ska skrolla. Android klarar däremot Flash vilket både iPhone och Windows Phone 7 saknar.
Vad som däremot är riktigt dåligt på Microsoft-mobilen är att den inte stödjer HTML5.

- 1. Access your media anywhere
When you want to access these files with a different application, you often have to open your Movies folder, iPhoto, or iTunes to do so because the pane is absent. It needn’t be, as a collection of Automator services makes the Media Browser available anywhere.
2. Listen to your documents
Snow Leopard includes another helpful Automator service that lets you take your documents with you in audio form. This is a great way for both those always on the move and those with visual impairments to access text documents.
3. Trigger workflows through iCal
When you launch Snow Leopard’s Automator, the workflow sheet that appears contains a list of templates. One worth paying attention to is the iCal Alarm template. Using it, you can create helpful workflows that are triggered at a particular time and date.
4. Opt for an automatic slideshow
Use Automator’s Image Capture template to create a workflow that collects images from your camera and presents them in a slideshow for your review.
5. Pull text from PDFs
If you’ve ever sought an easy way to extract text from PDF files, Automator provides a way.

Spotify uppdaterade idag sitt program med mappar till våra spellistor. Det tackar vi för! Det började verkligen bli ganska rörigt med mängden spellistor som man skapade eller fick delade till sig.
- With millions of great playlists being created and shared we’ve looked to make it even easier for Spotify users to manage them with today’s introduction of playlist folders in this Spotify update.
To create a playlist folder, simply go to the File -> New playlist folder or click the “+” symbol near the top left side of your screen. Once you’ve created a folder you can just drag and drop existing playlists into it and even create folders within folders to better organise your music.

Att Apple vill använda sitt iOS i allt fler produkter är inget främmande men att använda det i en iMac har känts lite konstigt men nu har Apple kommit på en lösning och patenterat den.
Om denna produkt blir verklighet så kommer din iMac att fungera som vanligt i upprätt läge. Men när skärmen roteras ner och kommer närmare dig i en bra vinkel så byter den sömlöst från OS X till iOS.
- While most of us were getting ready for the iPad’s arrival in January and Patently Apple hard at work preparing our major series called the Tablet Prophecies, a major iMac Touch patent was being quietly published in Europe.
First, Apple’s patent describes the transition process this way. When the iMac’s display is oriented upright and relatively far from you – the keyboard/mouse input mode could be selected and basically you’re operating in OS X mode.
Then to switch to a touch-based input, you’ll change the orientation of the iMac’s display so as to make touching the screen easier and more natural. For example, to enter touch input, you’ll want to pull the iMac’s screen closer to you while pushing the display screen down flat as if you were going to read a book, states the patent. In this orientation you’ll be able to select a corresponding UI which should translate to using iOS. In fact, the transition is really an automated process.
Verkligen spännande att kunna använda sina händer när detta känns bäst och mus/tangentbord när detta fungerar bäst.
